中文*** - Waste computer turns to a "castle"




The photo taken on July 9 shows a piece of novel and original work of art
named "fossil" draws much attention, as it is made of a mainboard of a
waste computer by a teacher from Shandong Industrial Arts College. The
special design made the machine a sculpture of an old "castle".

中文About Beijing - 94 dead in flood-hit south China




BEIJING, July 9 - Floods have left 94 people dead and 25 others missing
in seven provinces in China, a spokesman with the Ministry of Civil
Affairs said on Sunday.
About 16.67 million people had been affected and 555,100 people in
Jiangsu, Anhui, Henan, Hubei, Sichuan, Chongqing and Shaanxi evacuated by
4 p.m. on Sunday.
More than 49,000 houses collapsed and another 240,100 were damaged as a
result of torrential rains which began lashing Huaihe River valley, east
area of Sichuan Province and south area of Shaanxi Province on June 28.
Altogether 1.23 million hectares of farmland were affected, with
agricultural losses estimated at 1.95 billion yuan (about 256.9 million
U.S. dollars) while total direct economic losses could reach 3.83 billion
yuan, according to the spokesman.
Heavy rains also triggered mountain torrents, waterloggings, landslides
and mudflows.

Pakistan policemen transfer the corpse of one of the three Chinese
victims killed by attackers in northwestern Pakistan on Sunday, July 8,
2007.

ISLAMABAD, July 9 - Three Chinese workers were killed Sunday in
northwestern Pakistan, police said.
Police officer Abdul Karim said that it was a robbery attempt.
But one witness said that attackers with face covered were shouting
religious slogans when they opened fire on four Chinese nationals in a
three-wheel auto-rickshaw factory at Khazana, a town some eight
kilometers from Peshawar, the capital city of Pakistan's North West
Frontier Province.
The fourth Chinese were seriously wounded. He was later sent to the local
Lady Reading hospital.
